Reliable classification of nutmeg fruits from some geographical origins using SWNIR spectroscopy associated with PLS-DA and SVM methods: Case Study in Aceh Province, Indonesia

Abstract Essential oils of nutmeg ( Myristica fragrans ) can have different qualities due to the soil and industrial process, as Indonesia’s main production areas are enormous, especially in Aceh province. The lack information on detecting chemical constituents classifying from province makes price unable compete. Therefore, this study aims reliably classify fruits some geographical origins Province using shortwave near-infrared (SWNIR) spectroscopy associated with partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) support vector machine (SVM). SWNIR used has a wavelength 381 1065 nm at resolution 3 diffuse reflectance mode. fruit comes four origin Aceh. A total forty spectral data were further classified two algorithms, namely PLS-DA SVM. results show that correctly sub-districts help SVM algorithms. From study, following algorithm is recommended be an outstanding level precision.
